Frequently asked questions.

What is a birth doula?

A birth doula is a professionally trained support person for pregnant women during pregnancy, labor, and the postpartum period. Doulas provide both physical and emotional support and help pregnant women navigate the ups and downs of bringing a baby into the world. In addition, doulas provide education and resources on childbirth, comfort measures, labor positions, and breastfeeding assistance to you and your partner.

What are the benefits to hiring a doula?

For decades, women have given birth with a support system. Studies have shown support during labor may improve the outcomes for both mothers and babies. Doula support has been linked to higher APGAR scores and higher rate of satisfaction reported by mothers.

Other studies have shown that having a doula can reduce the need for caesarean sections by 56% and overall length of labor by 25%.

What if I want to get an epidural? What about a C-Section?

I support you no matter what. There is no one correct way to give birth. You have options!

What is the difference between a doula and a midwife?

A doula provides emotional, educational, and physical support throughout a pregnancy, birth, and postpartum season for the new mama and her family members. A midwife is a medically trained clinician who prioritizes the health and safety of the mother and her baby.

Will you attend a hospital birth? What about a homebirth or birth center?

Absolutely! I support all births as long as there is a medically trained professional present such as a midwife or OBGYN.

What type of payment do you take?

I accept check, cash, Venmo, credit/debit cards, and HSA/FSA cards. Please note that credit cards are charged a 3% processing fee.
